Faculty Development Program 2025: Teaching in the Digital Age – Understanding Gen Z Mindset

Kochi Business School conducted its Faculty Development Program (FDP) on the 26th of November 2025 at KBS Seminar Hall. The event saw the presence of distinguished academicians and thought leaders, discussing the future of education in a digital-first world. The session revolved around the theme “Teaching in the Digital Age: Understanding Gen Z Mindset,” which was about the empowerment and engagement of the present-day learners through connections with the teachers.

Insights from Academic Leaders & Experts

The FDP was blessed to have an outstanding panel of experts who delved into the learning patterns, expectations, and digital habits of Gen Z students. The panel consisted of:

  • Dr Thomas George – Chairman, Lead Group of Educational Institutions
  • Dr Muthumani Somasundaran – IPR Consultant & Academician
  • Dr V. Ramannair – Dean of Academics, KBS
  • Ms Shibi Anand – AI Trainer & Edupreneur

Every speaker offered an individual viewpoint on the interrelation of teaching methods, technology, and the changing nature of the modern student. The conversations made it clear that personalization, interactive learning models, digital tools, and AI-powered teaching strategies are the new agents of change in the classroom.

A Transformative Learning Experience for Faculty

The FDP was a vibrant and interactive space for KBS faculty. The event discussed;

  • Recognised the behavioural characteristics and incentives of the Gen Z learning group.
  • Investigate new teaching practices that are based on technology, collaboration, and real-time interaction.
  • Hands-on tips for using AI applications and online tools to make the classroom more effective.
  • How to plan new curricula in line with the learning needs and the industry's future expectations.
  • Contemplating the teacher's position in developing students' critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability.

Through interactive dialogues and exploration of cases, the participants managed to eliminate the gap between the traditional teaching methods and the modern expectations of the students.

Looking Back

The Faculty Development Program strengthened the vision of the Kochi Business School to nurture educators who are adaptive, innovative, and in line with the future of learning. Having comprehended the Gen Z mindset, the faculty members are now in a better position to create impactful classroom experiences and mentor students for a fast-changing world.
The success of the FDP event is another milestone in KBS’s endless quest to become academically excellent, digitally ready, and learner-centred.
