Kochi Business School celebrated its Graduation Day on 1st July 2023, a momentous occasion that marked the culmination of years of hard work and personal growth for the graduating students. The event, held at the picturesque Edachira, Kakkanad, was filled with enthusiasm and pride. Hosted by Steve Sebastian and Catherine Grace Jerry, the ceremony showcased the achievements of the graduating students from the batches of 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The Graduation Day ceremony began with an academic procession, followed by inspiring speeches and the presentation of certificates. Steve Sebastian and Catherine Grace Jerry expressed their delight at being part of such a special day and commended the exceptional accomplishments of the graduands, instilling a sense of anticipation for their future endeavours.
The ceremony included prayers and the invocation of blessings by Ms Rinva Rahman, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. The lighting of the lamp by dignitaries further added to the spiritual atmosphere of the event. Welcoming the graduands from the batches of 2018, 2019, and 2020, Steve Sebastian fostered a sense of community and inclusiveness. Esteemed individuals delivered impactful speeches, including Dr Thomas George K, the Chief Mentor, who highlighted the transformative power of mentors and the vision of making Kochi Business School a world-class institution. The Chief Guest, Mr Rajesh Nair, and the Guest of Honor, Mr Dinesh P Thampi, inspired the graduands with their graduation and keynote addresses, respectively.
Dr Bindhu Ann Thomas, the Principal, presented the academic report, acknowledging the achievements of the graduating batches. The Principal's commendation for each batch recognized the collective efforts, dedication, and perseverance of the students. To emphasize commitment and responsibility, Mr Mathew K George, Dean HR, led the graduands in taking the graduation oath. During the Graduation Ceremony, the graduands were led in taking the graduation oath, a solemn pledge symbolizing their commitment to their chosen profession and the betterment of society. With their hands held high, they solemnly recited the oath:
"I solemnly pledge myself to consecrate my life to the service of humanity. I will be loyal to my profession and just and generous to its members; I will lead my life and practice my profession in uprightness and honour. Whatever project I shall undertake, it shall be for the good of mankind to the utmost of my power. I will keep far away from wrong, from corruption, and from tempting others to vicious practice. I will not permit considerations of religion, nationality, race, party politics, or social standing to intervene between my duty and my work. Even under threat, I will not use my professional knowledge contrary to the laws of humanity. I make these promises solemnly, freely, and upon my honour."
As the graduands recited the oath, a powerful sense of dedication and responsibility filled the air, inspiring them to embrace the values of integrity and compassion that their education had instilled in them. Following the recitation of the oath, an important tradition unfolded as the graduands moved the tassel of their caps from the right side to the left, symbolizing the transition from students to graduates and marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Outstanding students who excelled in their academic pursuits were honoured during the ceremony. Mr Rajesh Nair and Mr Dinesh Thampi congratulated the best outgoing students from each batch by presenting them with gold coins. The Best Outgoing student from Batch 2018 was Mr Muhammed N. S, from Batch 2019 was Mr Arun Kumar R, and from Batch 2020 was Shristi Suresh.
